The Super8000 Film Festival offers you an exclusive chance to see 39 films by young, European filmmakers from 18 different countries. The films have been chosen by a jury, on the basis of their level of uniqueness, curiosity and innovation. Three films have extraordinarily been chosen to receive this year’s The Rethink Award, as they in particular are examples of films that have found their unique artistic language. The three award winners will be announced at the Super8000 Film Festival.

Synopsis: An elderly, soft-spoken veteran recalls when she joined the Soviet Air Force’s first all-female bombing squad. She reminisces about her friend Katja, and how they made the best of their antique equipment, struggled with being ostracised from their male comrades, and earned the fearful German nickname ‘Nachthexen’.

Synopsis: Thor and Iska have each discovered their sexuality and its power. They are overwhelmed by emotions and sexuality and this crisis affects their relationships with others. Sex is a physical and animalistic ritual and in their search for control, they lose their connection to themselves. They decide to reconnect with their own identities in the hope that they might now be able to meet the world with open hearts.

Synopsis: July 1971:Christian Ravel, the French pilot, rising star in the motorcycle competition, is heading to Belgium to take part in a Grand Prix. He broke down nearby Niki de Saint Phalle’s artist studio. They spend a couple of hours together mixing their universes.

Synopsis: On his very last day working as a hospital clown, Elias encounters his past when he meets a dying girl. A meeting which may finally give him redemption for his mistakes.
