The Super8000 Film Festival offers you an exclusive chance to see 39 films by young, European filmmakers from 18 different countries. The films have been chosen by a jury, on the basis of their level of uniqueness, curiosity and innovation. Three films have extraordinarily been chosen to receive this year’s The Rethink Award, as they in particular are examples of films that have found their unique artistic language. The three award winners will be announced at the Super8000 Film Festival.

Title: The End (26:55)
Director: Tomas Smrcek
Country: Czech Republic
Synopsis: Mara, an exemplary factory worker and father of two is striving for a better life for his family. His efforts are derailed by his brother-in-law Paja, a hopeless teenager roped into the football hooligan life by his girlfriend, Dana. When Mara’s wife asks him to tag along with Paja at a football match, he has no idea that his life is about to change.

Synopsis: Sally, an introverted 15 year old girl, lives and bears with her wolf-father in the city of New York where Wolf is slipping more and more into his world of wilderness. Sally still remembers the man he used to be; a brilliant and talented jazz trumpeter. Where did her father go? And can he still be found somewhere within the Wolf?

Synopsis: A young woman comes to a remote island to get away from it all, taking refuge at a modern studio utopia. All she needs is restorative peace and quiet, but her stay is jarringly interrupted by an intruder: an artist whose acoustic installation disturbs everything that the starkly empty house has to offer. The tension between the two women rises and the motionless calm gives way to growing frustration and anger. Emerging from the wilds of nature, the house becomes the third character of the story – a labyrinth in which contrasting personalities meet and differing lifestyles and expectations clash.

Synopsis: When Ruth (8), who’s recently lost her brother in a ﬁre is made take part in a game of ‘Hide and Seek’ at a friend’s birthday party, she does exactly that. She leaves the party alone and unseen and seeks audience with her ghost brother to try understand the loss.
