Super8005

The Super8000 Film Festival offers you an exclusive chance to see 39 films by young, European filmmakers from 18 different countries. The films have been chosen by a jury, on the basis of their level of uniqueness, curiosity and innovation. Three films have extraordinarily been chosen to receive this year’s The Rethink Award, as they in particular are examples of films that have found their unique artistic language. The three award winners will be announced at the Super8000 Film Festival.

 Film 1

Title: Everything Plays The Part, Nothing Is (23:21)

Synopsis: Emerged from sea, the metamorphosis is complete once the characteristic sailor’s hat is on. But as the great film artist sits down by the typewriter, the writer’s cramp hits him like a sledgehammer. While taking a walk in the woods to reduce his anxiety, a familiar monologue rises towards the sky like a butterfly and a young actress stands in the small grove. Has the playwright found his muse?

Film 3

Title: The Sunken Convent (15:20)

Synopsis: A man wakes up, he goes to work, he eats in, he does a bit of home surgery, he drives to the woods. Told without words and loosely inspired by the tale by Hans Christian Andersen,’The Sunken Convent’ is a grotesque and slightly surreal story of bad habits.

Synopsis: An offer of a job as a prison educator could help unemployed teacher Jakub resolve a difficult family situation. His father-in- law exacerbates his already low self-confidence, and the man most certainly imagined a different kind of son-in- law. The claustrophobic feelings Jakub experiences at the prison, however, lead him to a single question: Does he want to control others the rest of his life or be controlled by them?

Synopsis: Out on a lonely island lies the pirate parrot pet shop where you find the most beautiful parrots on the seven seas. Here you can also find the kind parrot Pierre. His greatest dream is to sit on a great pirate’s shoulder and go on great pirate adventures. But he is ugly. The fashionable and flamboyant pirates who visit the shop buy only the beautiful parrots. One day a little too fashionable late and desperate pirate is forced to buy the only parrot left in the shop – Pierre! Exited Pierre heads off for pirate adventure. But the adventure is nothing like Pierre expected…
